Stephen joined the independent bar in 2021 and practices criminal and employment law. He is a robust and practically-minded advocate for defendants and employees. He has represented clients at every level of the New Zealand court system.
Stephen is committed to access to justice and is a legal aid provider for criminal and employment matters. Where legal aid is not available he operates a sliding-scale fee structure based on the needs of clientele.
Stephen started his legal career as a judge's clerk. He worked for several years in legal and industrial roles in the trade union movement and was managing lawyer for Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley before joining the independent bar.
